Project Client

London Spuds, Mansfield Brisbane

Project Description

London Spuds is expanding and upgrading its commercial kitchen and distribution centre in Mansfield, Brisbane. The project is required to service this growing local business and its expanding food truck fleet.

RPG was contracted to manage the design and construction of all plumbing and gas fitting requirements for the project, including:

  • Project advice and recommendations
  • Working with Engineer to develop design plans to achieve best possible hydraulic outcomes
  • Concrete cutting
  • Site excavation
  • In-ground drainage
  • Water and gas pipe laying
  • Concrete preparation and installation
  • Plumbing rough in and commercial fixture fit-off
  • All plumbing and gas certifications

What were the challenges?

  • Location existing infrastructure such as underground facilities.
  • Working around a functional business with half of the building still in operation.
  • Bulk soil and concrete removal within a confined operating space.

How did RGP overcome these challenges?

We utilised our own pipe location devices to locate existing services. This helped to avoid damage to existing facilities and to locate facilities to implement necessary upgrades and changes.

We secured and clearly delineated the project area to provide for appropriate OHS and cleanliness. All concrete cutting and earthworks were handled out of hours. Concrete was cut with a wet saw to mitigate any risk of dust or debris entering an operating food preparation environment.

We had to utilise the limited space available to secure a location to stockpile waste concrete and soil, before removal.

Close consultation with the client to meet their operational needs continued throughout the project.

Project result

The final project result was an outstanding success in terms of the required outcomes, enhancing the operational capacity of the facility.

Our client appreciated, that RPG has a broad range of skills meaning that we were able to handle numerous aspects of the project and minimise the need for sub-contractors.

This included concrete-cutting, site excavation, waste removal, and concreting, in addition to plumbing and gas services.
